NVDA at a glance

NVDA is an American multinational technology company based in California whose business revolves around a number of hardware and software offerings:

  • GeForce: top-of-the-line consumer-oriented graphics processing unit (GPU). A GPU is the specialized circuitry designed to create images on a display device. It’s what allows computer monitors to show us what’s going on.

  • Nvidia RTX: the software side of GeForce. Paired with the hardware, this software allows the CPU to communicate efficiently with the GPU and create accurate and quick display updates.

  • Tegra: a GPU and CPU combination chip for mobile devices.

  • Tesla: a general-purpose GPU for specific professional and scientific application such as heavy compute science experiments or professional servers.

  • nForce: a motherboard chipset created for Intel and AMD microprocessors.

NVDA certainly has other offerings, but these are its primary focuses. Together, they encompass two types of businesses (source):

  • Graphics: NVDA’s graphics segment aims to provide hardware, software, and infrastructure solutions for gaming platforms.

  • Compute and networking: NVDA’s compute and networking segment aims to create efficient, high-performance compute and accelerated computing solutions to drive datacenters and AI training servers. This also covers applications such as cryptocurrency mining, autonomous vehicle solutions, and any supercomputer tasks.
