Welcome to one of the only newsletters dedicated to stock research articles digging into the business models of many popular companies among retail traders. A quick note, we will be transitioning the newsletter into a monthly release with editions being sent out on the first Sunday of every month, less holiday weekends where they’ll be sent out the following week. Enjoy.
AMD at a glance
AMD is a global semi-conductor company that sales GPUs and CPUs. Their products serve a variety of computing needs from servers, desktops, notebooks, and other commercial applications. AMD has two major business segments:
Computing and graphics: this segment includes AMD’s computer processors, accelerated processing units, chipsets, GPUs, and any data center or professional development services.
Enterprise, Embedded, and Semi-custom: this segment includes system-on-a-chip products, embedded processors, and other technologies for gaming consoles.
In general, the two segments share revenues and operating profits generally evenly (source).
